Golfers take the plunge at the idyllic spot 18-hole course the Golf Club Schloss Frauenthal.
Founded in 1988, the "Schloss Frauenthal" golf course near the district capital of Deutschlandsberg truly has two faces: the first 11 holes wind through the castle park of the 16th-century Renaissance castle, while holes 12 to 18 extend into the rolling hills of western Styria. Numerous water hazards (penalty areas), centuries-old oak avenues, and a variety of Mediterranean trees (plane trees, tulip trees, acacias) line the generously laid-out, wide fairways in the castle park. From the hills high above Deutschlandsberg, one can see across half of western Styria, and from the 18th tee, the Schöckel, Graz's local mountain, can be seen in the distance!
